Easy-to-use Hammock Knots
Ordinary
knots like a square knot or even a "slip" knot are terrible for
hanging hammocks because they get so tight you usually have to cut the ropes
off.
Our "official" knot for attaching ropes to the hammock loops is
called a "bowline". It works with either one or both ends of the
rope and can be untied or adjusted easily
Begin by bringing the rope trough the loop...pass it around the back side
of the loop, then under the incoming rope, but not back through the loop!!.
To untie the knot or adjust the height, just push the hanging ropes back into
the loop. It's really worth a couple of minutes to learn.
For a quick hitch to a tree or post simply double the rope around the object
and run the ends back through the middle. This will hold securely while in
use, but it will always come off quickly adn easily when you're ready to move
on.
